What is Psychodynamic Counselling?
The psychodynamic approach is based on the idea that, unconsciously, we tend to re-experience feelings, thoughts and patterns of behaviour in current situations and relationships, that have their roots in the past. These may cause us unnecessary difficulties and frustration until we become aware of them.
Counselling helps us to explore the hidden links between past and present. With new insight and understanding we become aware of choices and possibilities which were previously unavailable to us. In this model, the relationship between the client and the counsellor is central.
